Obituary for Rosemary Turner

Rosemary Turner affectionately known as “Auntie Rosemary” was born April 3, 1956 to the late Oscar Turner, Sr. and Rose Turner in Moultrie, Georgia. One month later she moved to Jacksonville, Florida with her parents and two siblings. She graduated from William M. Raines high School, Class of 1975 where she excelled in tennis and played the viola in the orchestra. Rosemary went on to graduate from Bethune - Cookman College in 1983 with a degree in business administration.

Rosemary worked at Emmitt Reed Center as a social worker, Jax Liquors as a manager, Revlon and GE Unison as an assembly worker. Finally, she came back home to work at Turner’s Day Care with her mother and sister.

Rosemary leaves behind her loving daughter, Christa Danielle Johnson (Michael); mother, Rose Turner; sisters, Linda Turner (Joe) and Kim Thomas; brothers, Oscar Turner, Jr. (Cheryl), William Turner (Gail), Ira Turner, Sr. (Peggy) and Travis Turner; godmother, Hattie Fowler; great nephew, Apollo Madison (aka AJ); aunts, Annie Mae Drayton, Memphis, TN. and Willie Mae Williams, Moultrie, GA.; uncles, Ira Jackson, Sr. (Eunice) Detroit, MI., Issac Jackson (Mildred) Philadelphia, PA. and Rayvon Saylor (Ellen) Atlanta, GA.; nieces, Tracy Turner Porter, Miami, FL., Linda Turner, Tierra Turner, Courtney Turner, Barbara Turner and Samantha Thomas; nephews, James Turner, Sr. (Ann) Elgin, SC., Ira Turner, II, Fresno, CA., Quarnell “Bango” Madison and Cody Turner; granddaughter, Mariya Johnson; 12 great nephews, 2 great-great nieces, 2 great-great nephews, god sister, Brigette and a host of other cousins and friends.


The funeral service for Rosemary Turner will be held 11AM, Saturday, December 1st, 2018 at the Samuel C. Rogers, Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street.
