Obituary for Ruby Lee Willock

Ruby Lee Sibley Willock was born to the late Joe and Louise L. Sibley-Hill on January 12, 1943 in Fernandina Beach, Florida. She was the fourth of twelve children. She was educated at Peck High School and graduated with the Class of 1960. At a young age, she matriculated to New York where she began working as a nursing assistant. In 1970, she embarked on a career at the Jewish Community Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. She continued in this profession for many years and gained the love and admiration of those she provided care to. She continued there until she retired. Upon retirement, Ruby Lee decided it was time to come home and she returned to Fernandina Beach where she replanted her roots in 1980.

Ruby Lee remained a faithful and loyal member of her community until she was called home on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at the Community Hospice in Fernandina Beach, FL. She fought a long and arduous battle for several weeks and the lord whispered to her, Ruby, this battle is done, and you have done well, come home to me. Obedient as she was, she peacefully slept.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Louise L. Sibley-Hill, and her loving and devoted stepfather, James Hill Sr; maternal grandmother, Maybell Mitchell; one aunt, Isabella Gadson; two sisters, Amy Joe Stacks and Gloria Abby-Jane Henry; one brother, James H. Doer Sr; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Hill, Lisa Hill and Alma F. Doer; one brother-in-law, Harrison Stack; and a nephew, Terrance “Lil Duke” Stacks.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving son, Christopher G. Francis; four sisters, Drucilla Hill, Darlene Hill, and Mable Hill all of Fernandina Beach, Florida, Jessie Hill of Flint Michigan; five brothers: James Hill Jr. of New York, Norman Hill of Orange Park, Florida, Harry Hill of Fernandina Beach, Florida, Crosby Hill (Felicia) of Flint, Michigan, and Jerry Henry (Laura) of Fayetteville, NC. Also left to remember Ruby are a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Ruby was also blessed with Alexander Oliver (Tonette), Harrison Stacks, Jr. and Anthony “Tony” Stacks (Vanessa), her loving and devoted nephews.
