Samuel Leroy Evans was born on January 8, 1935 to Leroy Clifford Evans in Summerville, South Carolina. He attended the local schools later re-locating to Jacksonville, Florida. Samuel was employed with the City of Jacksonville in the department of Water Service for nearly 40 years as well as Rollins Janitorial Services; he also held a Florida Times Union paper route.

Samuel departed this life peacefully at the age of 81, on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Vitas Healthcare of Georgia.

Samuel is survived by his three children, Andrea Evans Thomas (Eugene), Kenneth Evans (Carolyn), and Sherri Evans Richardson (Everage); grandsons, Eugene Thomas, Timothy Mobley, Jason Evans, and Bryan Evans; great-grandchildren, Darien Thomas and Domonique Thomas; great great-grandchild, Rilaya Thomas; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 25th, 2016 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, at Funerals by T. S. Warden, 4315 N.
