Obituary for Samuel "Sammie" Perkins

Samuel Perkins was born May 23,1949 to Walter Perkins and Elnora Bright in Lawtey, Florida.

He attended and graduated from Robinson Jenkins Ellerson High School in Starke, Florida. Early in life, Samuel, learned the importance of hard work and he instilled that same work ethic in his children. He worked and retired from Smurf Stone, now known as West Rock, on January 13, 2003. He was a man of strong faith and was dedicated to his place of faith and worship, True in Life Ministries.

In addition to his affection for family, he also loved to watch movies, and was passionate about sports. He was an avid fisherman, and could often be found out by the water when he wasn’t at home. One of the kindest and charismatic souls on this planet, Samuel was a gentle, giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage.

Samuel entered into God’s Kingdom on Thursday, August 11, 2022. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Walter Perkins; mother, Mrs. Elnora Bright; grandson, Azariah; and sister, Betty Monroe. He was the devoted and loving father to Serena Greene, Samuel “Champ” W. Perkins (Deshazio, Samuel, Daysha, Miya, Ireland, Legend, Samir, Levi,) Antonio S. Perkins (Heavyn, Cesare’), Nathaniel “Nay” & Gequita Barnes, (Nyomi, Nyeema), Byron S. Perkins (Sian, NaZyia), Joi D. Perkins, Brianna Perkins, and Samuel “Champ” Perkins (Jarvious Perkins, Caitlyn Perkins). He also leaves behind sisters, Carritha Thomas, Mildred Tisdale, Rev. Esther Kelly, and Jerelina “Yvette” Dawson; brothers, Rudolph Perkins and James “Mike” Perkins.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Samuel… father, brother, and son, you are now at peace but you will live on forever in our hearts. We love you so much. Rest in peace.
