Obituary for Sandra Louise Holmes
Sandra Louise Bennefield Holmes was born on March 30, 1954 in Jacksonville, Florida to Samuel Bennefield, Sr. and Dorothy Delifus Bennefield-White. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1972. In 1983, Sandra married her sweetheart, Ralph Holmes who was her partner in life for over 45 years.
Sandra was a dedicated employee of Independent Life Insurance Company for 26 years. She retired from the Northeast Florida American Red Cross after 13 years of service. She was a volunteer for the Duval County Supervisor of Elections, the American Red Cross, and the Southern Women’s Show.
Sandra was an amazing wife and mother. She loved Ralph and her sons with all her heart. Sandra loved her family, baking, and being a fulltime grandmother. She was the matriarch of her family and she loved planning gatherings with them. Sandra will be remembered as gentle, caring, and kind.
Sandra received Christ as her personal savior at Hope Chapel Ministries in 1983 where she remained a dedicated and active member for thirty-seven years. She touched many lives with her generosity and loving spirit.
Sandra Louise Bennefield Holmes passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Bennefield, Sr. and Dorothy Delifus Bennefield-White, and sister, Patricia Wilson. Leaving to cherish her memories is her loving husband, Ralph Holmes; 2 sons, Maurice Brock and Terrance Holmes (Dwan); 6 brothers, Samuel Bennefield, Jr. (Theresa), Steven Bennefield, Kelvin Wright (Yvonne), Randy White, Clarence L. White, and Washington Bennefield (Patti); 13 sisters, Cynthia Williams, Judy Renee Brown, Debra Bennefield, Darlene Ball, Denise Bennefield, Cathy Lynn Bennefield, Valerie Johnson, Carmell White, Tarsha White-Shepherd (Vincent), Freddie Lee White, and Marion Bennefield; 5 grandchildren, Erin Pompey (Edwin), London Holmes, Jacob Brock, Evan and Eli Pompey; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral service for Sandra Louise Holmes will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 12th, 2020 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden - Samuel C. Rogers, Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N Main St Jacksonville, FL 32206. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Tuesday, August 11th, 2020 at the Funerals by T.S.
