Selena was born on February 20, 1971 to Johnnie and Clementine Harris in Jacksonville, Florida. After graduating from Jean Ribault High School she ventured out and joined the United States Army. During her time in the military she met and married Kurt Smith, from this union they were blessed with two children, Javon and Jazlyn. In 2015, Selena became an employee for the City of Jacksonville, working in the Building and Inspection Department as a permit assistant.

Selena departed this life on Thursday, July 26, 2018 with her family at her side.

Selena leaves to cherish her memories: son, Javon Smith; daughter, Jazlyn Smith; only beloved granddaughter, Camryn Letrese Smith; mother, Clementine Durant; father, Johnnie Harris; stepfather, Lorenza Sylvester; only sister, Tonya Dixon (Michael); stepsons, Kurt, Reginald and Derrick; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
Selena light is one that could never be dimmed, her smile brightens up a room. She was a rare jewel that was loved by all. “Selena was Sunshine, Pure and Simple”.
