Obituary for Sharon Vanessa Dawkins

Sharon Vanessa Grant Dawkins was born in Miami, Florida on October 31, 1955 to the late Agartha Eloise Smith Grant and the late John Lee Grant. She spent her youth, teenage, and young adult years in Miami, Florida along with her eleven siblings. Sharon received her formal education in Miami, Florida graduating from the Miami Public School System. Later, she completed the curriculum granting a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, Florida.

During High School, and until her departure from Miami in 1978 to join her Husband, Harold Dawkins, Sharon worked for Publix in Miami, Florida. Afterwards, during their United States Army rotational assignment to Stuttgart, Germany, Sharon began working for the United States Federal Government on June 8, 1987, and subsequently retired from active Federal service on August 31, 2019. During Sharon’s tenure with the Federal Government, she worked for the Department of the Army, the Social Security Administration, and the United States Department of Labor.

Sharon was united in holy matrimony on June 12, 1976 with Harold Eugene Dawkins and was the proud Mother of one Daughter, Angelique¢ Carolyn Dawkins.

Sharon leaves her loving husband, Harold, and her devoted Daughter, Angelique¢, behind to cherish their fondest memories of her. Additionally, she leaves her siblings, Terry Grant; Floyd Aldphus Grant (predeceased), Sandra Grant (predeceased), Paulette Grant Minder, Renay Grant, Michael Grant, Gileon Grant, Mark Grant, Robin Grant, Cindy Grant, and Philip Grant; their spouses and children; and other family members and friends in the Bahamas, Miami, Florida, and Jacksonville, Florida to also cherish their thoughts of her.

Sharon was enthusiastic about baking and loved sharing her creations with family, friends, and coworkers. Additionally, in her spare time Sharon loved to read and was and avid connoisseur of British television Police mysteries. Sharon was a caring, loving, and compassionate person, wife, and Mother who enjoyed speaking with, and interacting with people. She was a person “who never met a stranger” and left an indelible impression upon all who encountered her throughout her life. Sharon will always be remembered fondly in all our thoughts and prayers.
