Shirley Y. Jones, age 84 passed away peacefully in her home on June 10, 2020 in Jacksonville, FL. Shirley was born on March 20, 1936 in Jacksonville, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, LeroyYoung and Lillie Mae Whitehead; biological children: Sharon Morris, Dwayne Staten, and Ernest Jones Jr.; siblings: Murphy Armstrong, Clarence (Janet) Young, Loretta Brazil, Victoria Gordon, Donald Whitehead, and Oliver Whitehead.

Ms. Jones was an entrepreneur. She owned and operated Sophie Place and Jones Kiddie College. She loved and supported her family.

Ms. Jones leaves to cherish her memories: daughters: Kearra Jones, Tommi Jones, Lyric Jones, and Kameta Jones; grandchildren: Tameko (Troy) Major, Kenneth Jones, Jr., and Ashley (Marcus) Tompkins; greatgrandchildren: Kearra Jones, Kenneth Jones Jr., Jaydon and Jakari Major, and Parker and Peyton Tompkins; siblings: Duffy (Florence - deceased) Young, Joann (John) Mallory, Barbara Brown, and Ronald and Gary Whitehead; sister-in-law: Shirley Armstrong; and a host of relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Shirley Jones will be held at 1:30 pm Tuesday, June 23rd, 2020 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Monday, June 22nd, 2020 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Edgewood Cemetery.
