Stanley aka “Stan the Man” Maurice Thomas, was born September 6, 1961, to Jettie Jones and Betty Thomas in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended Duval Public Schools and was a 1979 graduate of William M. Raines High School. Stanley enlisted into the United States Navy and served eight years. He met and married Sybil Yvette Jones (August 1985-October 2003) and to this union 3 children were born: Jamaal, Cherie, and Coree. Stanley relocated to Jacksonville and was employed by Everbank/TIAA for many years. While in Jacksonville, he reconnected and married his childhood sweetheart, Priscilla Hinson (January 2010-2016). From this union, they adopted Breanna Hinson.

Stanley’s kind, gentle, and outgoing personality gained him lifelong friends from the military and civilian work places. Stanley would give his best not to just his family and friends, but everyone he met. We will miss his laughter and infectious smile that he brought into every room he entered. He was an avid Oakland Raiders and Florida Gators fan, no matter the outcome of the season. He proudly wore his team colors much to the dislike of most of the family (The Seminole fans).

Stanley departed this life on Thursday, March 19, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father, Jettie Jones; sister, Deanna Thomas-Mays; uncles Albert Thomas, Jr., Theodore Thomas, and James Thomas; aunts, Evelyn Fuller and Nettie Thomas-Flagg; and niece, Brittany Daise.

Stanley leaves to cherish his memories: sons, Jamaal (Karilee) Thomas and Coree (Erika) Thomas; daughters, Cherie Thomas and Breanna Hinson; grandchildren Jaden, Audrie, Xavier, Emmalyn, Gabriella, and Jameson Thomas; mother, Betty Thomas; brothers, Michael Daniels, Terry (Tisha) Rock, and Dana (Katrina) Rock; sisters, Shirley Thomas, Valtoni “Sue” Thomas, Fayenessa Daniels, and Tanya Daniels; aunt, Willa Faye Cohen; nieces; Danielle, LaTisha, Summer, Jani, Justice, Terrvahnda, Semaiah, Aubriella, and Ciera; nephews, Anthony, Elvis, Shawn, AJ, Wayne, Curtis, Tyler, Christopher, Keith, Kenneth, and Jace; Parents in Love, Herman and Fannie Jones(in-laws); Shirley Hinson (in-law); and a host of cousins and loving friends.

The funeral service for Stanley Maurice Thomas will be held 11:00 am Saturday, March 28th, 2020 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street Jacksonville, Florida 32206. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Friday, March 27th, 2020 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Edgewood Cemetery.
