Obituary for Staretta Collier (Collier)

Staretta Gerona Collier, affectionately known as “Star” was born on April 12, 1966, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Donald Jerome and Doris Loretta Collier. She was a gradate of Robert E. Lee High School, Class of 1984. She continued her education receiving a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Edward Waters University. Staretta worked as an educator for many years until her health began to fail.

She obeyed the gospel of Christ at the Westside Church of Christ under the leadership of the late Minister Walter Cox Jr.

Staretta had many obstacles placed before her due to her failing health, but she had tremendous faith in God that never wavered. Even though she knew her life was ending, she talked about God and was ready to receive her robe and crown from the Great Redeemer, the Almighty God. She loved her family dearly and her daughter, Schuyler, was her pride and joy.

Staretta will forever live in our hearts. We will always love and miss you and your sense of humor. “Star” you may now Rest in Peace.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Jerome and Doris Loretta Collier; and brother, Donald Jerome Jr. and leaves to mourn her passing beloved daughter, Schuyler Lewis; one sister, Lydia Collier; two nephews, Cassius Williams and Coble Bates; three nieces, Ashley Collier, Zoey Hall, and Nori Hall; aunt, Betty Jean; godparents, Lonnie and Hattie Stewart; godsisters, Jackquelin Stewart, Stacey Chin, and Mary Henderson; godbrother, Rodney; special friends: Starletha Williams, Robyn (Misty) Stephen, and Jennifer Kennedy; and also, a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
