Ms. Stella Mae Axson, also known as “ Tina” , was born on November 14, 1932 to the late Leroy and Georgia Axson in Savannah, Georgia. She lived in Riceboro, Georgia for 14 years and relocated to Jacksonville, Florida. Stella continued her education in the Duval County Public School Systems. She was employed for 17 years at Jacksonville Beach hotels in housekeeping. Stella then became a supervisor at all Saint Catholic Nursing Home on Riverside in the housekeeping departments for 17 plus years. She also worked for Cathedral Gerontology Center for over 10 plus years where she retired.

Stella joined Grace Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Brown. She was a member of various organizations throughout the church. She was a member for over 50 years and served faithfully in the choir and prayer ministry.

Stella departed this life on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Pavilion Hospice surrounded by her family. Stella was preceded in death by her father, Leroy Axson; mother, Georgia Axson; sister, Ruth (Mike) and brother, Willis Axson.

Stella leaves to cherish her precious memories: daughters, Doneese Kemp and Angela Axson; son, James (Frankie) Axson; grandchildren, DeAungelo, Shantiece, Joekia, Star, Sparkle, Shajamia, BJ, Jamiron; nine great-grandchildren; niece, Inez Axson; devoted nephews, Willie Axson, Quincy Axson and Ervin (Denise) Barron; goddaughters, Coretha and Doretha Walker; devoted goddaughter, Wanda (Curtis) Bailey and a plethora of extended family, friends and loved ones.

The funeral service for Stella Mae Axson will be held 11AM, Saturday, October 20th, 2018 at the Grace Baptist Church 1553 East 21st Street.
