Obituary for Taniayah Alicea Riley

Taniayah Alicea Riley passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021. Born in Fernandina Beach on August 21, 2001, to Latasha M. Riley and Armaund J. Sims, Taniayah will be remembered as a vibrant, spirited young lady. A friend to so many, Taniayah's loving and caring spirit shone as a bright light of encouragement amongst her peers. She was a long-time member of the New Jerusalem House of God Saints in Christ, under the leadership and tutelage of Pastor Ruby L. Baker. She recently began attending the Greater Fernandina Beach Church of God, Apostle Jeanette Richo, pastor.

A graduate of the Fernandina Beach High School Class of 2020.Taniayah was committed to reaching her educational and career goals. She was determined to demonstrate that she was working hard and striving to fulfill her dreams. Taniayah was beginning a career in early childhood development. She recently earned her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and was excited to complete course work toward her associate of arts degree. Taniayah had an entrepreneurial and business mind. She designed her own logo and launched a beauty enterprise, Adore My Minks, that allowed her to serve as a private makeup artist to close friends. Taniayah spoke in a way that captured your attention. She expressed her thoughts clearly and eloquently. She was a confidante to friends and classmates who often sought her as a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on. Taniayah was a loving daughter and a giving big sister. Her family will forever miss Taniayah's sweet spirit.

Taniayah is survived by her mother, Latasha M. Riley, and her father, Armaund J. Sims; her brothers Dantarius Johnson and Keyshawn "June" Donley; her devoted grandmother Doris Sims, her aunt Kimberly White, her uncles Robert (Stefani) Martin, Robert "Robbie" (Melanie) Jones, Jr., and Todd (Felicia) Sims, godbrother Jayden Lee Aikens, best friend Skyla Wootton, close friends Ta'Miya Raysor and Zaria Moxie, close cousins Joseph Jones, Derick Lester, and Jaylen Slater, special mother figures Jabora Thomas and Vernita "Grandma Nita" Thomas, and a loving extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

The funeral service for Taniayah Alicea Riley will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021, at First Baptist Church, 86584 Pinewood Dr., Yulee, FL 32097, Rev. William Goode Jr., pastor, officiating: Rev. Ruby L. Baker, eulogist. The visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, June 11, 2021, at the Funerals by T.S. Warden Fernandina Beach, 410 Beech Street, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034, and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment in the O'Neil Community Cemetery.
