Obituary for Temeka Brown

Temeka  Brown
Temeka Natosha Brown was born at University Hospital on December 27, 1977 to her parents, Rickey Robinson and Dorothy Brown. She grew up in Jacksonville, attending Carter G. Woodson Elementary School, until her mother met and married her step-father Gregg Lester. After their union, Temeka moved to Okinawa, Japan where she was raised and attended a host of other DOD Schools overseas. She was the oldest of 10 children. She was an amazing daughter, sister, granddaughter, aunt, niece, friend, and most importantly mother.

On September 2 ,1995 Temeka gave birth to her one and only, pride and joy, Ashanti Sharzella Watson. She returned to Jacksonville, Florida in1998 to raise her daughter and help care for her maternal grandmother (Nana). Temeka was a prep-cook at Sonny’s BBQ (Harts Rd.) for 13 years until her passing.

Temeka was received in Heaven on Saturday, May 27, 2017 by her grandparents, Albert and Alma Brown and Lewis and Willia Mae Robinson.

Temeka is survived by her loving daughter, Ashanti Watson; supported mother, Dorothy Lester; father, Rickey Robinson; stepfather, Greg Lester; sisters, Rickia Black (Gerald), Sharita Robinson, Ashley Lester, Shanice Lester, Pantarria Robinson and Shantarria Robinson; brothers, Gregg Lester Jr., Andre Lester, Ricky Robinson Jr. and Shavazz Robinson; godmother, Cynthia Ganskins; god sisters, Lazjee’ Lyles and Jeanece Lyles; god brother, Kinte’ Lyles; her life partner, Archie (Israel) Leach; ten nieces and nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
