Obituary for Terry Bernard Funches

Our beloved Terry Funches died unexpectedly on January 9, 2023. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. He will deeply be missed.

Mr. Terry Bernard Funches was born to Mr. Cornelius Gilchrist Funches and Mrs. Betty A. Funches  on July 16, 1967 at Duval Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida. Terry was born with limited eyesight. Despite this challenge, he attended Fishweir Elementary and Sandalwood High School. Terry worked at a variety of companies in the area, including Anheuser-Busch and was a school bus attendant for M.C. Harris and Sherman Randall.

At a young age, Terry was baptised at the Lincoln Villa Church of Christ. He was active in the Youth programs and enjoyed singing. Terry was married to Katrina Wright. Although their marriage ended, they remained friends.

Terry enjoyed grilling, chicken was his favorite food, baked, fried or stewed it didn't matter. He could eat it everyday of the week with a smile. He loved to watched football. Although he was an native Floridian, his favorite team was the Pittsburgh Steelers. Terry had the heart and the spirit of a peacemaker. He greeted people with a smile and a positive word. He was a good son who honored his parents, a wonderful brother and a loyal friend. He was predeceased by his father, Cornelius Gilchrist Funches, Jr.

His memory will be cherished by his mother, Mrs. Betty A. Funches; two sisters, Ms. Regina Funches Farley and Ms. Katrina Funches Williams; nephew, Mr. Willie Gilbert Jr. (Danielle); two nieces, Mrs. Doneka Williams (Gary) and Ms Dometria Gilbert; six great-nieces and nephews, Ke'Arie , DJ, Kalieyah, Khelani, Isaiah, Giovanni, Gavion, and one son; two aunts, Cheryl Jonson and Harrietta Funches; a host of cousins, amongst them, Ms. Lurile "Lee" Mansfield, Ms. LaQuanta Jones, Mr. Tityra Jones, Mr. Anthony Richardson (Shannice), Kim Bown, Toris Frazier and Erik Jones, numerous relatives and many sorrowing friends, Richard Andrews, Ben, Benita Edwards, and Michael Williams.
