Thomas Guyton Sanders, born a preemie entered this world, December 29, 1964, to Margaret Elizabeth Sanders and A. Certain. His mother never came home from the hospital, passing in February of 1965. His loving grandmother, Eula Lee Guyton Barbrey, became his full-time parent and care giver, with the assistance of her teen daughter, Gloria. Thomas, father passed, when he was less than two years of age. After Becoming a senior citizen, his grandmother needed assistance, therefore, Thomas and his brother Alphonso, lived with Ms. Butts, for approximately four years. Spending the weekends with their grandmother. They then returned to live with their grandmother. Thomas attended the local schools of Duval County.
In later years, he was joined to the love of his life, the late Deborah Young, they lived a productive life, sharing many wonderful memories. He was a devoted and hardworking husband, and this proved to be one of the happiest times of his life. He nurtured and cared for her through her bouts with cancer. After her passing, he was grief stricken and never really got over her lost.
Thomas worked in several occupations. He drove trucks for a number of years for a major cement company. He later purchased two trucks and became self-employed, owning and operating “95 South” Towing Service. After his health became an issue, he dispose of his trucks and purchased vehicles, repairing and many times disposing of them. He loved riding his motorcycle!!! He was a big gentle soul, with a unique sense of humor, which impacted everyone he met.
Thomas attended the Church of Christ in younger years, but joined St. Stephens A. M.E. Church, and attended with his wife and her family. Mr. Sanders departed this life on December 30, 2020. At Haven Hospice. He was predeceased by his wife, mother, father, grandmother, and sister, Gwendolyn.
Thomas family members left to cherish his memories: a brother, Alphonso Sanders; aunt, Gloria S. Rhett (John); uncles, Joseph Sanders and Yayha (Dorothy) Hasan; devoted cousin, Edward King; and devoted godmother and friend; Mary Brock and family; many other cousins, and friends.
Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.
The funeral service for Thomas Guyton Sanders will be held 11:00 am Friday, January 8th, 2021 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden ,4315 North Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206.
