Obituary

Celebrating the life of Tiffany Janelle Ortiz

Tiffany’s journey began on November 20th, 1985 in Camp Springs, Maryland she was born into this
world by her loving parents Douglas and Gwendolyn Bryant, Sr. Tiffany grew up in Prince
George’s County (Maryland) on Andrews Air Force Base, Virginia Beach, VA and in Jacksonville, FL
alongside her twin sister Tamara and her brother Douglas Jr. Growing up, she always dreamed of
working in the medical field. Throughout her life, she often showed compassion and empathy to those
she encountered.

Tiffany attended Red Mill Elementary (VA Beach), Highlands Middle School and First Coast High School,
both located here in Jacksonville. Along the high school journey, she met and fell in love with her high
school sweetheart, Jonathan in 2003 and on December 13 th , 2008 she became Mrs. Jonathan Ortiz. From
their union of 17 years, they are blessed to have 3 beautiful children – Jonathan Jr. (7), Judah (4) and
Janessa (1). As Tiffany continued her medical education, she attended the Concorde Career Institute,
where she became a Registered Nurse in the Fall of 2012.

Tiffany’s work history included Fletchers Tendercare, Memorial Hospital, Brooks Rehabilitation and her
final assignment was with UF Health. The Ortiz family are current members of Celebration Church,
Fernandina Beach, Florida under the leadership of Pastor Carlos Serrano.

When Tiffany was first diagnosed with Colon cancer in 2018, it was devastating. Despite the diagnosis,
she began to share her story on YouTube and Facebook live, so that others may be helped; she became
an advocate for Colon Cancer Awareness, taking her pain and turning it into her passion: serving others
while saving lives.

Along this journey, Tiffany was honored on October 26, 2019 during the “Powerful in Pink” Gala Awards
Banquet, honoring outstanding women battling cancer and those who survived. Tiffany was also
recognized and honored for her strength and determination as a cancer patient. Tiffany’s story reached
the heart of Kentisha Mazeke, founder of “Felita’s Love” which is a local non-profit organization serving
as a community outreach organization for colon cancer patients undergoing colon cancer treatment.

During her last hospital stay, showing true grit and determination, Tiffany requested a 4-hour pass to
attend Felita’s Love “Hearts for Blue” Colon Cancer Fundraiser Brunch held on March 7 th 2020, where she
was honored for her relentlessness of fighting this disease. Amazingly, having enough strength on the
day of the brunch, she left her hospital room to attend the event and go back afterwards for a scheduled
blood transfusion.

Tiffany shared and displayed her new journey to the world. Her story was featured on the local news
station where her heart and passion for others to get screened echoed throughout the city. Her life
serves as an inspiration for others to keep fighting and trusting in the Lord no matter the obstacle. She
was an encourager and warrior until the very end of her journey. Tiffany wishes for each of us currently
reading this program to continue fighting for those battling this disease while carrying her name forward
by sharing her story and building our own legacies to inspire others just like she did for us.

Tiffany’s new journey began on March 29 th , 2020 where she was called home to be with our Lord and
Savior.
