Obituary for Timothy Elbert Waters Jr.

Timothy Elbert Waters, Jr. was born in Jacksonville, Florida on June 7, 1951, the eldest son to Timothy Elbert Waters, Sr. and Margrette Waters.

His public education began with Duval County Public Schools, attending New Stanton High School, where he played the trombone in the New Stanton Blue Devils Marching Band. He graduated from high school in 1969 and met and married Delores Sanford Waters that same year. Soon after graduation, Timothy enlisted into the United States Air Force, where he served as an Airman for over 6 years. He was extremely proud of his military service and he often spoke of the people and places he encountered during his military career. Upon leaving the military, he earned his Associates of Arts Degree from Florida Community College of Jacksonville and began his career as a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician with the City of Jacksonville.

He was an avid reader and he enjoyed listening to music from one of his favorite bands, Earth, Wind and Fire. He also had a passion for vintage westerns and martial arts movies. Although he was a reserved and serious man, he was also a great storyteller. He enjoyed entertaining his children and grandchildren with colorful stories he created just to make them laugh. He rededicated his life to Christ on November 4, 2012 and was baptized at the Northside Church of Christ, Jacksonville, Florida. He was a praying man and he often spoke about the mercies of Jesus Christ on his life.

On January 9, 2021, God in His infinite Wisdom, Mercy and Grace called from among us a beloved father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He leaves a legacy of love and great memories. Timothy was preceded in death by his loving parents, Timothy and Margrette Waters.

He will forever be cherished by his children, Timothy E. Waters, III (Katina), Adrian Waters, LaVett Waters, Tia Martin, Ovan Taylor, Poka Rose, Tamia Haywood, Isiah Waters, Alexander Haywood, Nicole Haywood, Miracle Simmons (Elijah), Devin Prince and Miguel Prince; his siblings, Frances Waters, Carolyn Johnson, Gwendolyn Whigham, Michael Waters, Cynthia Brown, Keith Waters and Jacquelyn Waters and a host of beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

"To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under Heaven; A time to be born, and a time to die…A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance...” Ecclesiastes 3:1-4.
