Obituary for Tommy Anthony Carroll

Tommy Anthony Carroll was born on December 1, 1957 to the late Solomon and Ruth (Tyson) Carroll in Brunswick, Georgia. He departed this physical life on June 7, 2020. Tommy was raised in the Fancy Bluff Community and became a member of F.A.B. Church of Fancy Bluff. He was baptized at Convent Baptist Church in Manhattan, New York at a young age. He graduated in 1975 from Glynn Academy High School. He attended and studied general education at Virginia Western Community College.

Tommy joined the United States Army in January 1977 serving 20 years until he retired in January 1997 ending his service as a Drill Sergeant. He traveled the world including locales such as Korea, Philippine Islands, Germany, and Hawaii.

Upon the end of his military career, Tommy continued serving his country as a member of the United States Postal Service in Atlanta, Georgia in October 1997 where he completed 20 years of service in November 2019. Tommy was also a member of the International Free Masons.

Tommy enjoyed fishing and traveling. He often took trips to the Caribbean islands to enjoy deep sea fishing. Tommy loved his family and was most proud of his beautiful children and grandchildren.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, and 4 sisters.

He leaves to mourn his children:
Terrance Carroll (Monica), Terrance’s mother, Ruth Neloms;
Tonetta Williams; Brandon Carroll (Kiara); Rashad Carroll; and Ryan Carroll, and their mother, Anita Carroll.
He also leaves to mourn his wife and friend, Wanda Carroll.
Tommy is also survived by his adoring grandchildren:
Terrance Carroll, Jr.; Nicholas Carroll; Juliana Carroll; Dahlia Carroll; Natalia Carroll; Tailyn Carroll, and Tommy Carroll (Lil Tommy).
He also leaves to cherish his sweet memories his sisters, Teresa Nesmith, Ophelia Carroll, Connie Carroll, and Brenda Lawrence; brothers, Solomon Carroll, Jr., and James Carroll (Cheryl); special friends, Larry Demery (Brunswick), Reginald Weber (Anniston, AL), Euddy Morales Matos, and Heidy Soto Linares of the Dominican Republic. He will be dearly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral service for Tommy Anthony Carroll will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 20th, 2020 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Friday, June 19th, 2020 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
