Obituary for Tonya Latrice "Tank" Anderson

Tonya Latrice Anderson, the youngest of two children, was born on January 22, 1969 in Jacksonville Florida to Willie James Anderson and the late Bernice Anderson. She was educated at Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville Florida. Upon graduating from high school, she began work at the Department of Children and Families as a case worker, a position that she held for over 25 years. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Later in life, she continued to honor God by joining Philippian Community Church and eventually Mount Sanai Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her illness prevented her from attending, yet she continued to worship the Lord. Our beloved Tonya, surrounded by family and friends, departed this earthly life and went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, November 17, 2019. She was preceded in death by her precious grandparents, Jack Banks, Eugene Hardeman Sr., and Sallie Mae Hardeman.

Tonya was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her children, her sister and grandchildren. She had a lot of class and style and would always be dressed to impress in her very best. She loved to laugh and to make others smile. Her favorite thing to do was cook, making sure everyone ate or had a snack. She found immense joy being around family, having a good time filled with laughter and good music. Brightening others day truly brought joy to Tonya’s heart. Each morning, even during her illness, she would send inspirational messages to family and friends.

Tonya leaves to cherish her memories: amazing daughters, Victoria Bradley and Danisha Carson (Jarvis); loving sons, Preston Anderson and Michael Anderson (J’nae); siblings, Bridgette Anderson and Earl Thomas; six grandchildren, Keymoni Lindsey Anderson, Kinsley Carson, Kelsey Carson, Braelyn Carson, Micah Anderson, and Jaela Anderson; grandmother, Janie Banks; aunts Alice Austin, Lorraine Wilson Cross (John), Dorothy Hardeman, Minnie Powell (Warren) and Florina Seward; uncles, Richard Anderson, Walter Anderson, Leroy Hardeman and Ralph Taylor; niece, Shawanna Johnson (Keone); nephews, Richard Anderson (Jh’Nia), Tommy Anderson (Trenique), and Carnell Walls; devoted friends Glenda Watson, Janice Durham, Tiffany Dixon, Stacey Byrd, and Cynthia Stallings; and a host of uncles, aunts, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
