Tonya Sabrina Thompson-Williams was born on May 30, 1973 to the late Mr. Collie Thompson and Mrs. Mamie Lundy-Hayes (late Eddie Hayes) in Jacksonville, Florida. She graduated from Paxon Senior High School and earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Florida State College at Jacksonville.
Tonya married George Chauncey Williams, Jr. on February 21, 2021 in Jacksonville, Florida. She adored their daughter, Charlize Gilbert.
Her ambition led her to follow her dreams and resign from Heinz Portion Control and return to school at Florida State College at Jacksonville to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services. She excelled in her studies at Florida State College at Jacksonville and was recognized with inclusion on the Dean’s List each semester.
Tonya was a dutiful servant at Forward Christian Center and served on the 1st Touch Greeting Ministry, Environmental Service Team, and helped with the community food distribution. On any given Sunday, you could find her, George, and Charlize with coordinating “Sunday’s Best” attire. She was a true fashionista and set trends which included matching accessories, shoes, and purses.
She was adventurous and spontaneous. Her adventurous nature led her to travel to many destinations around the world. Tonya chronicled her travels with pictures of exotic locations and shared each excursion by going live on Facebook to allow others to share in her adventures. She never met a stranger and her smile lit up every room she entered. With her love for shopping and giving spirit, she made sure no holiday went unnoticed. She gifted family members with tokens of love for every holiday, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, 4th of July, and Christmas. Her birthday was always a celebration and she celebrated the whole month, MayFest.
Tonya loved life and over loved her family. She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband, George Chauncey Williams, Jr., daughter Charlize, mother Mamie Lundy-Hayes, mother in law Deborah Ann Williams, aunt Dorothy Counts, uncle James Thompson, great aunt Dr. Helen Green, siblings Robert Lundy, Ernest Lundy, Sr. (Gwendolyn), Mellynn Merriwether, Janice Young (Barry Sr.), Carla Person, and sister in law Charlotte E. Jones. Her niece who she treated as a sister Tyrica “Nicky” Young (Ervin, Jr.) and a host of nieces and nephews: J. Tameka Payne, Shimaka Bracey, Ernest Lundy, Jr. (Brittanie), Cheketa Taylor, Kenyolta Green (Deterrio, Sr.), Kentrell Graham, Jerome Lundy, Jerald Young (Tonisha), Larry Graham, Jr. (Tameka), Tyrone Lundy, Dyanne Lundy, and E’lexus Lundy; special great nieces Briana Beasley (Jarrett), Azya Johnson, M’kayla Carter, E’mani Thomas, and E’nya Thomas, host of great nieces and nephews, and.great great nephew Jayden “Peanut” Bivens,. Her godchildren; Albert “Dee” Neavins, Tyra Mitchell, Jonessa Young, Ronnie “BJ” Myrick, Jr., and Ahmad Stafford. Her best friends Stacy Savage-Williams, Karim Baker, Derrick Archie, Felecia Gardner, Katina Macon, and Tiffany James and a host of cousins.
The funeral service for Tonya Sabrina Williams will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 27th, 2021 at the Forward Christian Center, 10696 Lem Turner Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 26th, 2021 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden, 4315 North Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries South.
