Obituary for William Lucious Mack

William Lucious Mack (Duke) was born to the late William Dewhite and Mildred Person on December 28, 1949 in Abbeville, GA. Moving to Jacksonville, FL at a young age, he attended Forest Park Elementary, James Weldon Johnson Jr. High, graduating from Stanton Vocational High School.
 
William (Duke) was employed with the Maritime Shipping Company, Pepsi Cola Bottling Group as a truck driver, and ILA Local #1408 International Longshoremen’s Association, until his health began to fail.
 
William (Duke) was united in Holy Matrimony to Hettie Highsmith for 27 years. During their union five daughters were born.

Duke will be remembered as a sharp dressed man, his fat cheeks when he smiled, kindness towards others, truck driving, hunting, motorcycle riding, as a mechanic, and his favorite three saying, “Oh boy”, “Hey dere! How ya be?” and “My friend”.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by three brothers: David, Robert, and Michael (his heart); and Richard Person.

William transitioned to a new home on Saturday, September 19, 2020. He leaves to cherish his memories: his ex-wife, Hettie Welcome; daughters, Kimberely Mack-Lewis, Angela (Daniel) Jordan, Natalie, Nicolla, and Lawanda Mack; stepdaughter, Alicia Mack; brothers, Larry Person, Gerald (Francine) Person, Reginald (Lynn) Person, Randy Person, Milton (Cassandra) Person; sisters, Denise Wade and Sharon Kiser; grandchildren, Darrell Jenkins, Jr., Daniel Jordan III, Alvin Bell, D’angelo Jordan, Bryan Goggins, Robneisha Anderson, Byron Goggins, Angelle-Joi Jordan, K-shaun Ross, and Khaleel Rabsatt (Smooth); a host of other relatives and friend; and special friends at MJG Transportation Service and GAB Security.

The funeral service for William Lucious Mack will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 2nd, 2020 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. The visitation will be 10:00 - 11:00 am, Friday, October 2nd, 2020 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Private Interment.
