Obituary for William Walker

A Time to Be Born:
William Walker, affectionately called “Poppa”, was born on May 29, 1953 to William Walker and Ellen Frances Boyd Walker in Jacksonville, Florida.

A Time To Serve:
William accepted Jesus Christ and received the call from God. He preached his initial sermon at All People Church Of God In Christ under the leadership of Bishop C. D. Kinsey. He later placed his membership with Titus Harvest Dome under the leadership of Pastor R. J. Washington.

A Time To Live:
William was educated in the public schools of Duval County. He attended Stanton High School. He was employed with Hunter’s Starter & Generator where he built and serviced armatures for all types of automobiles which he sold throughout the state of Florida and Georgia. He was also employed by Load King. William decided he wanted to work for himself, so he launched his own business, ARMPRO Lawn & Landscaping, working tirelessly for over 30 years. William married his devoted wife, Sheryl on May 20, 2000. His surviving legacy includes two daughters, Terrell Walker and Shawnna Walker; three stepsons, Eugene (Raisha) White, Michael, and Mark Hicks.

A Time To Die:
William fought a courageous fight, but God decided it was time for him to come home. He transitioned to his mansion on Sunday, August 16, 2020.

A Time To Mourn:
William was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ellen Walker; sister, Yvonne Walker; and step-grandson Desmond White. In addition, he leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Sheryl Walker; daughters Terrell and Shawnna Walker; step-sons; Eugene (Raisha) White, Michael and Mark Hicks; grandchildren, Garry Bones III, Garrielle Bones, Emory Lowe, Taylor Lowe, step grand-daughter; Elle White, step great grandchildren, Ke’Moni White, Desmond T. White II; siblings; Linda (Charles) Blackshear, Carolyn Walker, Vondalynn W. Brown; uncle, Walter Cheeks (Albany, GA); a host of nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews; cousins in Orlando/Apopka, FL and Albany, GA; best friends, Freddie Rhodes and Charles Smith; and many other sorrowing family and friends.

The funeral service for William Walker will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 25th, 2020 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Monday, August 24th, 2020 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
