Willie Gene Gilmore was born on January 15,1962 to the late "Hamp" Jackson and Annette Vining Gilmore. He was birthed in Augusta, Georgia and then moved to Brooklyn, New York where he resided until his teenage years.  He later moved to Jacksonville, Florida with his grandmother, Rose Vining who raised him until his adulthood.  He was a lifelong resident of the Eastside Community where he became well known and was loved by many.

Willie was a very loving, caring, and compassionate man as a father, partner, G-Pa, brother, cousin, uncle, nephew, and a true friend to everyone who was blessed to be around him.  He never  complained and was always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear no matter when or where.  His character was that of a jokester as he always made others laugh. His smile was contagious and would light up any room and he was no joke in the kitchen or on a grill!   "Truly A God Gifted Spirit with A Heart of Gold”

Willie was employed at Mercury Carpet & Floored by Taylor until his health started failing. Although he had to retire, his boss continued to stay in touch and be a great friend.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Hamp Jackson and Annette V. Gilmore. He  leaves to mourn his daughter: Carla Daniels; Life Partner of 20+ years: Karen Mundy; step-daughter: Tonya Mundy; grandson: Zion & Family; brother: Glen Gilmore; Aunt: Karen Vining (New York); Uncles: Bobby Watson and Keith Watson (New York); Great Aunts: Mamie Vining (New York), Shirley Palmer (Will), Virginia; and Trudie Vining (Georgia); Devoted Cousins: Blenda, Vincent, Laurie (Darell) and Cheryl (Ben) of Jacksonville, FL.; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, Special Devoted and Lifelong Friends: James "Babby" Smith (Windy) and the entire Smith Family; and Best Friend: Larry Triplett.
