Obituary for Willie Mae Read

Willie Mae Read was born on February 21, 1940 in Jacksonville, Florida to Jessie Mae and Carl Green, Sr. She attended the local high school in Jacksonville, FL and was employed by Merita Bakery for 30+ years of dedicated service, where she retired.

Willie Mae was a faithful member of the True Holiness Church where she served in various auxiliaries. She was a member of District #1 and served on the Deacon Board. Willie Mae was a foster mother to many children. She loved her church and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bryant Read; brother, Carl Green, Jr.; and sister, Thomasina Green.

Willie Mae leaves memories to be cherished by her children: son ,Tony L. Green, Sr. (Meltonia); daughters, Lisa K. Green, Teresa Read (Jimmie), Shareeka Cherry, and Alana Read; grandchildren, Latoya Green, Tony Green, Jr. (Ceila), Abereon Brown Green (Samantha), Jordan Scott, Aubree Gilmore, Jaylin Branton, Angeloe Benner, and Allissia Benner; great-grandchildren, Jahmyri Jennigans, Tony Green III, Amelia Green, and Zariyon Baker; brother, Jerry Green (Barbara), Melvin Green (Lena), and Ray Green (Pam); sisters, Annie Mae Green, Patricia A. Green, Deborah Davis, Marion M. Robinson, Mary Brown, Peggy T. Campbell, Floretta Green, Myralyn Pierce (Marty); and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends; special friends, James Brooks, Carlene Spencer, and Annie Bell Sanders; A Special Thank You to her caregivers, Ms. Karrye Prettyman and Ms. Melissa Singleton.

The funeral service for Willie Mae Read will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 4th, 2020 at the True Holiness 4022 Spring Grove Avenue, 32209. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Monday, August 3rd, 2020 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
