Obituary for Yvonne Jenkins

Yvonne “ Bonnie” Jenkins was born on February 23, 1945 in Douglas, GA to Elisha Wilson and Ida Mae Futch. She was raised in Orange Park, Fla and attended the all black school, Dunbar High in Green Cove Springs. Bonnie married at a young age and welcomed children James, Sharon, Rhonda, and Lil Man into her heart and home.

Bonnie was a natural caregiver. After raising her kids she worked as a certified nursing assistant at a local health facility. Though she loved her job, she made the choice to put family first by raising her granddaughters as she did her own. She went above and beyond for those she loved most.

Bonnie was a sweet and kind soul who embraced everyone that she met with love. The words often used to describe her were Compassionate, Strong, and Prayer Warrior. As her granddaughters often believed, there wasn’t a prayer from her lips that didn’t reach God’s ears and when she said that she would be praying for you,
trust and believe that she would. She was strong in her walk with the Lord and as often as she could, she fellowshipped with her church family at Guiding Light Ministries along with other sisters and brothers that she met along her journey with Christ.

She departed this life on November 20, 2020, and was preceded in death by; Elisha Wilson (Father), Ida Mae Futch (Mother), Sharon Williams (Daughter), Beatrice Smith (Sister), Betty Williams (Sister), Dock Moore Jr. (Brother). Bonnie leaves to mourn her passing: Rhonda Burch (Daughter), James Williams (Son), William “ Lil Man” McClelland (Son); Granddaughters: TaWanda Williams, LaShonda Grant, April Williams, Angela Hunter (Micah), Danielle Burch, Alena Rogers; 10 great-grandsons, 4 great-granddaughters; and a host of other relatives, church family and friends.
