Obituary for Gloria Dean Williams

Mother Gloria Dean Williams was born on March 18, 1945 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Mr. Otis and Mrs. Mary Magdalene Bryant Foster. She was the eldest of eight children.

Mother Williams accepted Christ as her personal Savior at the age of 11, in 1956, under the Pastorage of the late Rev. E.R. Simpson, Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Florida. She attended St. Pius Catholic School. Mother Williams retired from San Jose Country Club.

Mother Williams transitioned to her Heavenly home on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Tulane Medical Center, New Orleans, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Mary Foster; grandparents, Noe and Clarrah Smith; sons, Frederick Eugene Foster and GlenRoy Lamar Hilton; brothers, Robert Foster, Albert V. Foster and Arnold Foster; 3 grandchildren and a sister, Tonia Foster.

Mother Williams legacy of love left with her loving husband, Bro. James O. Williams of 43 years; devoted daughters, Sharon Dinkens (Larry), Brenda Hilton, Bernice King (James) and Sylvia Hilton; sisters, Clara Tremble, Joyce Gross (Pressley), Bernie Thomas (Willie George), Rose Maxey and Mildred Brown (Felix); 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren; a host of sorrowing nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, childhood friend, Martha Hendon and church family members.

Mother Williams accomplishments' were being a author of two books “Treasures From My Heart Embraces A Vessel of Honor” and “Back to the Basics—The Expectant Family”. Two poems accepted into the National Library of Poetry. She received the Poets Laureate Award in 1996, Las Vegas, NE. for her poem “Storms or Answers”. Inducted into Famous Poets Society in 2001 and received Poet of the year medallion. She received the “Unsung Hero Award” from Jacksonville Free Press, June 1, 2006. Mother Williams was a member of “Families of Slain Children, Inc., Jacksonville, Florida where she served as Chaplain and a grief counselor. She has also written a song “Jesus, I Love You”. The funeral service for Gloria Dean Williams will be held 11:00AM Saturday, November 10th, 2018 at the True Believers Primative Baptist Church 2103 Grand Street. The visitation will be 5 - 7 PM , Friday, November 9th, 2018 at the Funerals By T. S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Interment in .
