Obituary for Louey Frank Carter Sr.

Louey Frank  Carter Sr.
Mr. Louey Frank Carter was born October 10, 1942 in Brundidge, AL. to the late P.J. Carter and Vera Bell Berrance-Carter. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School (Gainesville, FL.) Class of 1962 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education in 1968 from Edward Waters College. Louey accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and attended several churches in his community, including his family church, Friendship Baptist Church in Gainesville, Florida. He was a loving father and brother and demonstrated love to all that he came in contact with. No one was a stranger to Louey. He knew how to put a smile on everyone’s face and had the gift of telling the “truth!” Louey was a former employee of the Boys and Girls Club of Jacksonville, FL., Edward Waters College, Duval County School Board, and lastly, Job Corp. where he served as a coach.He was preceded in death by his parents, Vera Bell Berrance-Carter and P. J. Carter, and brother Bobby Carter.

On Wednesday, January 14, 2015, Louey went home to be with the Lord. He leaves to cherish and honor his warm memories: His long-life partner Novella Whitley; his children: Louey Carter Jr. (Joquette), Orlando, FL.; Felita Carter, Jacksonville, FL.; La’Sha O. Hill (Joe’l), Jacksonville, FL.;Cathy Whitley (Genay); Sisters: Addie Carter Perry,Gainesville, FL.; Dr. Mattie Sue Carter-Collins, Atlanta, GA; Brothers: Ralph Griffin, Los Angeles, CA.; John Carter (Dallastine), Orange Park, FL.; Lewis Carter (Mozella), Jacksonville, FL.; Aaron Carter (Veita), Gainesville, FL.; Grandchildren: Joelle (Peanut), Myah, Nasir, Joey, Nia, and
two additional grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, uncles, and devoted friends.
