Obituary for Ruby Lee Ford

Ruby Lee  Ford
Ruby Lee Ford, was born on January 23, 1924, in Dothan, Alabama to Caroline Thigpen and Huddie D. Law. After Ruby’s schooling she worked for Baptist Hospital and St. Vincent’s Hospital for many years.

Ruby, was the First Lady of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church for over 15 years, under the leadership of her husband, Rev. LeRoy Ford. She later joined Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Elbert Moreland. Ruby was an active Eastern Star Member, Pride of the East, Chapter #19. She was also a member of MECCA Court #7.

Ruby, entered into eternal rest on, February 4, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; husband, Rev. LeRoy Ford; and son, Michael Moore.

Ruby, is survived by her children: Dennis Russ (Mattie), Ruby Jean Griffith, Annie Catherine Tills, Elise Bunting (Sam) and Marrion Ford (Katie); grandchildren, Regina (Troy), Reginald, Monique, Deborah, Gregory, Leroy, Eugene, Robessa, Gerald, Tony, Reginald, Tamara and Reginald Ford; honorary mention, Jacqueline Clark and DeRon Kitchen; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, sister-in-laws, special friends, Doris McFadden and Florence Cunningham, and many other friends that will miss her dearly. Her extended family were the hundreds of children she kept and raised after her retirement. 153 West 11th Street, was a revolving door for children and homemade cakes. Ruby had a heart of gold and would give you the clothes off her back.

The funeral service for Ruby Lee Ford will be held 11AM, Friday at the Evergreen Baptist Church 1100 Logan Street, Jacksonville, FL. The visitation will be 5 - 8PM, Thursday at the mortuary.
