Sylvia Constance "Sylvalee"  Bender-Mayweather
Sylvia was born on October 31, 1938 to the late James and Fannie Bender in Jacksonville, Florida. A product of the Duval County Schools, Sylvia graduated from New Stanton, Class of 1956. She accepted Christ at Dayspring Baptist Church where she was a member. Sylvia was known for being a hard dedicated worker, she had a successful career at IBM in New York City for 26 years.

Sylvia married Charles Mayweather in 1971 and they shared 25 years of memories together. She was a proud mother of three children, Yvette, Dwayne and Terrance and a faithful grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Sylvia’s kindred spirit and delightful personality helped foster numerous friendships near and far. Her passion and devotion for her family will never be forgotten.

Sylvia leaves to cherish her loving memories, her daughter, Yvette Beamon (Bobby); two sons, Dwayne Bender (Laurie), and Terrance Mayweather (Tracey); grandchildren, Stephaun, Charlynn, Taquan, Brittany, Terrcari, Tianna, Treivon (deceased), Takari, Shanae, Daniel, Destyne, Jazmyne; great-grandchildren, Kalani, Stephaun Jr., Brooke and Tarje; siblings, James Bender (deceased), Shirley Hunt, Earnestine Williams, Alvin Martin, Jacqueline Taylor, LaGretta Coleman, Linda Joseph (deceased), Robert Bender, Carolyn Bender, Winnifred Quarterman (deceased) and Lisa Bender, a devoted niece, Sabrina and a host of other relatives.


The funeral service for Sylvia Constance Bender-Mayweather will be held 11AM, Saturday at the Dayspring Baptist Church 5654 Dunn Avenue. The visitation will be 5 - 7PM, Friday at the mortuary.
