Eric C. Burt was born on September 9, 1961 in Jacksonville, Florida to Ella Lance and Victor Burt. He attended the local schools in Duval County, graduating from Jean Ribault Senior High School. He was a member of the Church of God in Christ Temple. Eric later met and married Brenda Thomas, he had one daughter and a grandson.

Eric departed this life on Saturday, July 11, 2015. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Onah B. Mobley and stepfather, Alfred L. Lance.

Eric leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Ella Lance; Father, Victor Burt (Sadie); daughter, Kendra Thomas Ward (Willie); sisters, Subrina Harris (Michael), Faye Lance, Appearingday Burt, Vicki Bailey, Natasha Morris (Calvin), Tegjula Hilburn (Craig); grandson, Judah Thomas; stepmother, Earlene Burt; aunt, Teresa Bell; special cousin, Elmira Adams (Fred); uncle, Raymond Lance (Cheryl); god brother, Darren Merrill; best friend, Pastor Michael Baker, and a host of other relatives and friends.
