Obituary for Joyce Ann Holmes

Joyce Ann Holmes
Joyce Ann Holmes journey began on November 26, 1944, born to the late Richard J. Culp and Rosa Bell Culp in Jacksonville, Florida. Joyce parents had ten children, one son and nine daughters of which Joyce was the ninth girl. Joyce graduated from Stanton High School and soon after high school Joyce met and married Robert Lee Burke and was a stay at home mom. To this union their son Romallice Robert Burke was born. Joyce later married a second time, to Leonard B. Holmes and had another son, Rodriguez Holmes and daughter, Adrian Holmes.

Joyce worked for Revlon for 15 years and was known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers, some may be surprised to learn that she was extremely shy. Even as a child, she possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smile, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten.

Joyce learned to be happy, and wouldn't tolerate being around people who made her feel anything less. She believed her job was to reach out to the difficult people because; it’s about caring for and helping the broken hearted. When you do this then you will know true happiness and peace. Until then, you will never know who God really is.

Joyce departed this life to eternity on Sunday, August 9, 2015 and was preceded in death by her parents, Richard J. Culp and Rosa Bell Culp; sisters, Doris Cuyler of Brooklyn, NY, Mercedes Carter and brother, John Porter.

Joyce leaves to cherish her memories her children, Romallice Burke, Rodriquez Holmes (Rashema), and Adrian Reeves (Terrence); grandchildren, Chistian Burke, Kieria Anderson, Rodriquez Holmes, Jr., Tationna Holmes, Brianna Holmes, Terrence Reeves, Jr., Tyrion Reeves, Taveon Reeves and Romallice Burke; sisters, Aretha Johnson, Rosa Porter, Alberta Mincey, Verdie Mae Gamble, Betty Irvin (Joe) of Scott Plains, NJ, Deloris Daniels (George) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, other relatives and friends.
“Farewell My Love”.
