Obituary for Rosalee West

Rosalee  West
Rosalee West was born on January 6, 1953 in Jacksonville, Florida; she was the oldest daughter of the late Russell Tooley and Emma J. Richardson-Smith.

Rosalee attended the public schools in Duval County, graduating from William M. Raines High School. She was employed at Jacksonville’s famous Cotten’s Barbeque where she worked there for ten years. While serving as a waitress at Cotten’s Barbeque, she also worked as a transportation driver for CSX. Shortly thereafter, Rosalee opened her own family home daycare business in 1999 until 2006. She touched many children lives and will always be remembered for her caring spirit, nurturing touch and passion for life.

Rosalee departed this life into eternal peace on Thursday, October 22, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Rosalee leaves to cherish her memories, four loving children, Latasha S. West, Shershack Hall, Jr., Thomas H. Carter II, and Akeeva J. West, all of Jacksonville Florida; siblings, Lonnie Richardson of Jacksonville Florida, John H. Hill of Wilmington, Delaware, Louise Jefferson of Wilmington, Delaware, Equilla Smith of Wilmington Delaware, Cheryl Henry-White of Daytona Florida, and Brenda Thaxton (Gerald) of Jacksonville Florida; grandchildren, Thomas H. Carter III, Thomarys Carter, Tmyrah Carter, Jordan Carter all of Gainesville Florida; longtime and devoted friend, Shershack D. Hall, Sr. of Jacksonville Florida, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

The funeral service for Rosalee West will be held 11:00 am Saturday, at the West Jacksonville Church of God In Christ 3838 Firestone Road Jacksonville, Florida 32210.
