Obituary for Lonnie Samuel "Big Lonnie" Jordan

Lonnie began life in Jacksonville, Florida on August 31, 1980. He was the oldest child of Ricky B. Johnson and Joanna M. Johnson. Lonnie was a faithful member of the Philippian Community Church, in Jacksonville, Florida. He received his early education in the local public schools of Duval County, graduating from First Coast Senior High School, Class of 2001. Lonnie was also a graduate of Maritime Training School in Baltimore, Maryland, where he received his Merchant Marine Apprenticeship License in 2002.

Lonnie was one of the Seamen missing from the El Faro on October 1, 2015. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Nathaniel Florence; aunt, Evelyn Florence; grandparents, Ben Jordan, Sr., and Rev. Lonnie Samuels, Sr. (Mable). Lonnie has traveled all over the world, his last stop is Heaven.

Lonnie leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Joanna Johnson (Ricky); father, Lonnie Samuels, Jr.; brother, Ricky Johnson, II (Lashawnda); sisters, Trina Simmons (Tavares); Sanlia Johnson, Joanna Johnson, and Jasmine Johnson; grandmother, Faye Jordan Cummings (Thomas); aunts, Marilynn Clemons, Patricia Jones (David); uncles, Ben Jordan, Jr., Walter Jordan (Cassandra); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

The Memorial Service for Lonnie Samuels Jordan will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Philippian Community Church, 7578 New Kings Road, where he was a faithful member. He was one of the Seamen missing on the El Faro, October 1, 2015. Jordan was a 2001 graduate of First Coast Senior High School, and the Maritime Training School in Baltimore, Maryland in 2002.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his uncle, Nathaniel Florence; aunt, Evelyn Florence; grandparents, Ben Jordan, Sr., and Rev. Lonnie Samuels, Sr. (Mable).
