Obituary for Jeroal Vonnie Douglas

Jeroal Vonnie  Douglas
Mr. Jeroal Vonnie Douglas affectionately known as “JD” was born on November 7, 1952 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Otis V. Douglas, Sr. and Zeola Hallback Douglas. Jeroal received his early education in Jacksonville and graduated from Eugene J. Butler High School in the Class of 1970. Jeroal worked several jobs during his life, most recently for Peninsular Pest Control before his illness forced his retirement.

Jeroal “JD” was joined in holy matrimony to Gwendolyn Delores Baker on August 3, 1992 where they “Jumped the Broom” into a devoted life together. Jeroal obeyed the gospel and was added to the body of Christ on August 6, 1992, at Northside Church of Christ.

Jeroal departed this life on Thursday, December 31, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Zeola Douglas, Sr.; brothers, Terry B. Douglas and Otis (Chico) Douglas; and nephew, Lemuel Evans.

Jeroal leaves to mourn: his wife, Gwendolyn B. Douglas; daughters, Jacqueline Holley, LaVetra “Shawn” Cooper, and Terry Vinnett; grandchildren, Stanyetta, Breona, Whitney, Courtney, Britney, Alvin, and Tajh; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Curry and Annette Bell (Roger); brothers, Nathaniel Douglas, Brian Douglas (Chauncey), Thomas Douglas (Elizabeth), and Gary Douglas (Sherelle); sister-in-law, Tonita Douglas; brother-in-laws, Danny T. Waye and Marsha Waye (Tonette), and a host of other relatives, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

The funeral service for Jeroal Vonnie Douglas will be held 11AM Wednesday, January 6th, 2016 at the Northside Church of Christ 4736 Avenue B. The visitation will be 5-8PM, Tuesday at the mortuary.
