Obituary for Shirley Ann Gordon

Shirley Ann Gordon
Shirley Ann Gordon was born on October 18, 1950 to the late James Williams and Algerine Nelson Williams. She was educated in the public schools of Duval County and was a graduate of New Stanton High School, Class of 1968. Shirley retired from the United Parcel Service after many years of service.

Shirley wants you to know that her work here is done. She received a call for a promotion which she could not refuse. Her new assignment comes with a huge bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be enjoying herself to her heart’s content. One where she will be in the presence of the Almighty God for eternity. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and she will never gain an ounce. She desires that her children, husband, and family celebrate her mission here, which has now been completed.

Shirley departed this life on Monday, January 18, 2016 and was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jeanette Barber Harrell and Betty Jean Clark-Thomas.

Shirley left to cherish her memory her husband, Daniel E. Gordon; devoted sons, Cedric “Ced” Stewart (Tanya), James “Jamie” Green; nephews, Michael Smith (Renee), and Jimmie Harrell (Trina); granddaughter, Alanna Stewart; sister-in-law, Lois Franklin (Keith); special nieces, Deborah “Pookie” Davis, and Brenda Cherry (Tommy); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friends, and family members.

We would like to let her know that we will miss her dearly, and that we are comforted in knowing that she is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, her love for life, family, and friends. Shirley worked very hard all her life, up until the very end. She made a difference in the lives of many. We invite you to join us in celebrating her memory.
