Obituary for Rosa Walker

Rosa Walker
Rosa Lee Reese Walker was born in Camilla, Georgia on June 12, 1943 to the proud parents of Johnny B. Reese and Ora Lee Williams Reese. She resided in Jacksonville, Florida where she received her early years of education at Saint Pius Catholic School, secondary years at Isaiah Blocker Jr. High School and higher education at Florida Junior College. Rosa was the former wife of Jimmie Reeves and was blessed by this union with a daughter, Mary Ann Reeves who was called home to rest on August 9, 2000. Rosa was also the wife of the late Freddie Walker.

Rosa affectionately called "“Bay” by her family and friends biblical teaching began at St. Pius Catholic Church where she held her membership for many years. Bay would recite her favorite prayer of the Saint Michael the Archangel daily, though a devout Catholic; Bay also enjoyed the biblical teachings of Pastors Rudolph McKissick, Sr. and Rudolph McKissick, Jr. prospectively and would regularly attend services at Bethel Baptist Institutional Church.

Bay spent over 45 years of her life providing care to others working as a Certified Nurse Aide, Patient Care Technician, Home Health Aide and Private Sitter for Riverside Hospital, St. Vincent's Hospital, St. Catherine's Nursing Home, University Hospital (Shands) and The Atrium.

To know Bay was to love Bay; she was quite special, she had her own unique style and was genuinely loved by all of us individually and collectively. On Monday, April 18, 2016, our Bay struggle was finally over as she quietly answered the Master's call to join her and our dearly departed loved ones who preceded her in death. Her loving daughter, Mary Ann Reeves; beloved parents, Johnny B. Reese and Ora Lee Reese; dearest sister, Mary Lee "Cookie" Reese Kimbrough; baby brother, James Louis Reese; nephew, Kenneth James Kimbrough; grand-nephews, Master Henderson Kimbrough and Baby Odom.

Though departed from this earthly life, know that collectively we find solace in our hearts knowing that your body is finally free from pain, your mind is at peace and your soul is at rest. Individually we'll always cherish you with our own fond memories and special bonds. Rest well Bay, you'll forever be in our hearts, lovingly yours; your grandson, Daunte' Reeves; great-granddaughter, Kirvonna Simmons; devoted nieces, Shelia Kimbrough Simmons-Bermudez, Alicia Kimbrough Hartley-Smith, and Shinita Kimbrough Miles; close uncle, Issac Reese; brother-in-law; Willie James Kimbrough; nephews, Alfred Kimbrough, Edward James Kimbrough, and Malcom Reese (Texas); a host of grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnephews, a host of nephews, nieces, in-laws; a dear cousin, Gennie Reese; uncle, Willie C. Reese (Phelam, GA); aunt, Catherine Reese (Miami, FL); and many other cousins, relatives and friends.
