Obituary for Mary Lee Tyler

Mary Lee  Tyler
TYLER Mrs. Mary L. Tyler, age 93, passed away peacefully, April 22, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia. A Jacksonville resident for more than 70 years, she was born in Douglas, Georgia on December 29, 1922, the first born of eight children. She married Lester Jordan, Sr. (predeceased) and moved to Jacksonville, where the couple had four children: Virginia, Lester Jr. (predeceased), Elease and Lawrence. In Jacksonville, Mary married Frank Tyler, Sr. (predeceased) with whom she had one child, Frank Tyler, Jr. She worked on the Custodial Staff of the Duval County School Board for more than 30 years, 20 of which at the same school. A devoted Christian, Mary was a member of Victory In Christ Bible Church under Elder W. F. Faust, Jr. When her late son, Lester Jordan, Jr., and his wife, Gloria Jean became Florida Foster Children Association members, Mary joined and provided a home for many foster children. She leaves behind a rich legacy of love, faith and devotion to Christian service to her brother David Batts (Delores); daughters Virginia Jordan Williams, Pastor Elease Jordan Walker, Phyllis Jordan McBride and God Daughter Mary Rockwell; her sons, Lawrence Jordan and Frank Tyler, Jr.; 12 Grandchildren, 23 Great-Grandchildren, 10 Great-Great-Grandchildren, many foster children and a host of extended family, friends, co-workers and her church family at Victory In Christ Bible Church. Mary lived a long and rich life, touching many souls with her Christ-like example of love, giving and service to others. A Funeral Service celebrating the life of Mary L. Tyler was held at 11AM, on Friday April 29, 2016 at Victory In Christ Bible Church, 2525 Edgewood Avenue, Elder W. F. Faust, Jr. officiated. Interment is at Edgewood Cemetery. Funeral arrangements handled by T.S. Warden, 4315 North Main Street, Jacksonville, Florida.
