Obituary for Theresa Dorrell Cummings
Theresa Estelle Dorrell Cummings affectionately known as “Tricky” was born on June 22, 1938 to Samuel Dorrell and Olive Dorrell. She was united in marriage to Samuel L. Cummings and to this union four children were born; Samuel, Renna, Vince, and Gary whom preceded her in death.
Theresa was educated in the Public Schools of Duval County graduating from New Stanton High School. Theresa a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida was employed by the Jacksonville Transit Authority for ten years as a custodian.
Theresa transitioned home on Monday, April 25, 2016. She took that final climb to the stairway of heaven. Upon her arrival she was met by her father and mother; loving husband; son; six older sisters, Duval, Margaret, Evelyn, Catherine, Doretha, and Althmese. She was embraced with comfort and love.
Theresa leaves to cherish loving memories three children, her daughter, Kimberly Cummings; sons, Samuel Cummings, Jr. (Mildred) and Vince Cummings; five grandchildren, Ashley, Lloyd, Troy, Monique and Lorenzo; four great-grandchildren, Deion, Dominic, Tiesha and Demetrus; four special nieces, Vivian, Polly, Jackie, Alice; goddaughter, Brenda Shields; devoted friend, Merdice Rose Daniels; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends
