Obituary for Sylvia Lannette McMillan

Sylvia Lannette Upton McMillan was born on August 11, 1954 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was the middle child of the late Alfred Upton and Arrie Lee Upton. Sylvia was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School Class of 1972 and received her AA Degree from Florida Community College at Jacksonville.

Sylvia was previously married to Archie McMillan Jr. from that union they raised two amazing kids, Marlene and Andre. She loved and was very involved with her grandchildren. Sylvia was a member of Dayspring Christian Ministries and was adored by her church family. She loved God and was very active in the church ministries; including serving as a Sunday School Teacher, on the Usher Board, and singing in the choir.

Sylvia was registered with the National Foundation for Transplants and on the waiting list at the Mayo Clinic in Florida for a Kidney Transplant, prior to her departing this life on Friday, May 6, 2016 to be with the Lord.

Sylvia leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her two children, Marlene McMillan (Joseph Delaune) and Andre McMillan (Shekelia Loper); grandchildren, Marc White, Andre McMillan Jr., Lauren Enoch, Darius McMillan, Jayden McMillan and Jarien Delaune; devoted siblings, Gregory Upton (Janet Upton), Sherrilyn Carter (Ernest Carter), Debra Drummond (Robert Drummond) and Dr. Alzic Upton; mother-in-law, Carrie McMillan; brothers-in-law, Eugene McMillan, Joseph McMillan, and Donald McMillan; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Jones (John), Joyce Adams, Wanna Upton; daughter-in-law, Tracey Hammonds; devoted and loving godparents, Deacon Willie J. Nathan Sr. and Pearlie Mae Nathan; god brothers and god sisters, Bonnie Debose, Willie Nathan III and Walter Nathan, Cynthia McGruder, Thomasina Merrion and Jasmine Lemons; adoring nephews and nieces, Elijah Walker (Tanza), Kristina Prosser (Terrance Dumas), Linda Billingslea (Roderick), Lisa Carter (Kevin Follow), Tawanna Noel (Frank), Latavius Upton (Angelia), Christie Edwards (Carl), Rhadisha Davis (Neil), Dr. Robert J. Drummond (Shanique), Micah Lewis, Alisha Auguste (Larry), La'Kisha Jeffcoat (Malcolm), Kevin Walker, Daniel McMillan, Joshua McMillan, Sheree Evans, Darren Drummond, Roger Adams, and Anthony Adams; a host of other relatives and friends.


The funeral service for Sylvia Lannette McMillan will be held 11:00 am Saturday, May 14th, 2016 at the Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church 2803 Edgewood Avenue West. The visitation will be 5-7pm , Friday, May 13th, 2016 at the Funerals By T. S. Warden 4315 North Main Street. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries. Please sign the family guest book @ www.tswarden.com.
