Obituary for Coretha Lawson

Coretha  Lawson
Mrs. Coretha Victoria Lawson daughter of the now deceased Lottie Bell and Clarence Gordon, was born on November 26, 1928, in Jacksonville, Florida. Coretha was a hard working wife and mother who was dearly loved and cherished by many family members and friends around her hometown and abroad.
 
Coretha was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life the late Ernest Lawson, Jr.  To this union one child was born, Henrietta Walls. At an early age, Coretha accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and became one of the original members of the Northside Church of Christ, where she remained a faithful member until her passing. She enjoyed her life with family, church members, and friends that were always near, surrounding her with love. Everyone undoubtedly knew she would be the one to provide love, laughter, and absolute truth.

Coretha beautiful eyes closed to rest on Monday, May 9, 2016 at home surrounded by family and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Claretha Gordon, Eddie Walker, James Walker, and Dorothy Lawson.

She leaves to cherish her sweet memories one daughter, Henrietta Walls; six grandchildren, Ernest L.  Spencer, of Atlanta, Georgia, Vincent Phillips (Deborah) of Jacksonville, Florida, Michael Phillips of Orlando, Florida, Ricardo A. Spencer (Tyhesia) of Orlando, Florida, Carlos Spencer (Anita) of Jacksonville, Florida, and Kimeko Spencer of Jacksonville, Florida; several great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones who will miss her dearly.

The funeral service for Coretha Lawson will be held 11AM, Friday, May 13th, 2016 at the Northside Church of Christ 4736 Avenue B. The visitation will be 5- 8PM, Thursday, at the mortuary.
