Obituary for George Beaton Sr.
George Beaton Sr. was born as the youngest child to his parents the late Roosevelt and Ollie “Geneva” Beaton on August 1, 1938 in Jacksonville, Florida. He received his education in Jacksonville, Florida, and was taught Christian values at Mother Midway AME Church, the oldest African Methodist Episcopal Church in Florida. He is a descendant of the Hart-Robinson Family, two of the founding families of Mother Midway AME.
George and Johnnie Mae Jackson married on August 21, 1961 and from this happy union were born one son, George Beaton Jr. and four daughters, Angie, Georgette, Danita, and Karen (deceased) who left two daughters, Pre’Sharia and Ryshelle, who they also raised from infancy.
George worked various jobs including for the City of Jacksonville until his retirement. He believed and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior, and was a man that believed in prayer. He enjoyed singing, fishing, growing fruit trees, and spending time with family and friends, especially his last pet dog “Little Boy.
George departed this life on Monday, June 6, 2016 and was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Mae Beaton; daughter, Karen Beaton Freeman; grandson, Vernon X. Robinson; parents, Roosevelt and Ollie “Geneva” Beaton; four brothers, Roosevelt Jr., Horace, Willie, and Johnny C. Beaton.
George leaves to cherish his legacy: daughters, Angie (Jerome) Rogers, Georgette Robinson, and Danita (James) Watts; son, George (Emily) Beaton Jr.; grandchildren, Devori Collins, Antonio Watts, Brittney Robinson, Pre’Sharia Jasmin, Ryshelle Freeman, Eric Watts, Avery D. Collins, Ebony Watts, Alexis Beaton, Joseph Gadson, Kelvin Hartlieb, and Brianna Beaton; great-grandchildren, Vernon Jr., Anthony Jr., Joshua, Cailyn, James, Arie, Jamaria, Angel, Madisyn, and Amanie; sister, Jeanetta Beaton Wilcox; sisters-in-law, Jessie Beaton and Bonnie Jackson; affectionately called granddad by Jeremy and Jordan; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. George Beaton, Sr. departed this life on Monday, June 6, 2016. The funeral service will be held 10:00 am SATURDAY, at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel, 4315 N. Main St. The visitation will be held 5 - 7:00 pm , Friday, at the mortuary. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries. Please sign the family guest book @ www.tswarden.com. Arrangements in care of Tyrone S.
