Effie Leola "Nanny"  Thompson
Effie Leola Thompson affectionately known as “Nanny” was born on December 5, 1937 in Pensacola, Florida to the late Willie and Mary Thompson. Effie was raised in Jacksonville, Florida by the late Ophelia Johnson.

Effie married Eugene Davidson, a military housewife, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and confidant to many. She will be surely missed.

Effie had three daughters, Vicki Lynn, Jonnie Lischele, and “Hue” Melody.

Effie departed this life to be with the Lord on June 21, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Mary Thompson; Ophelia P. Johnson; sister, Rosetta Cummings; brothers, Alvin Thompson, Willie Thompson, Albert Pinkney, and Fredrick Pinkney.

Effie leaves to cherish loving memories with her daughters, Vicki James, Jonnie Riley (James), and “Hue” Melody Vickers (Richard); grandchildren, Brandi Johnson, Shan Lowry (Jermaine), Ronnie James III (Shannon), Asiah Cooper (Anthony), Sade Newton (Sherod), Farryn James, Donovan James, Xavier Johnson, Kenyachtta Johnson (Wilhemina), and Ricardo Riley; sisters, Catherine McArthur (James), Ruby Petway (Joseph), Diane Myers, and Ann Pinkney; brother, Dr. Eugene Pinkney; nieces, Shatica Hutchinson, Tiffany Washington, Angie Thompson, and Angela Billings Anderson (James); nephews, Andrei McArthur and Willie Lee (Betty); 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for EFFIE LEOLA THOMPSON "Nanny" will be held 11:00 am THURSDAY, at the West Union Baptist Church, 1605 West Beaver St. The visitation will be 5 - 7:00 pm , Wednesday at mortuary.
