Obituary for Velda Debrocia Woodard

Velda Debrocia Woodard was born on April 30, 1956 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Nathaniel Reynolds and Mildred Reynolds Kitt. Ms. Woodard graduated from William M. Raines High School Class of 1974. She was employed with the Duval County Public School System for nearly 40 years. Due to her illness Velda recently retired from Ft. Caroline Middle School where she spent most of her years of employment.

Velda had such an amazing gift with the students and staff at Ft. Caroline Middle School. The students confided in her as she redirected unacceptable behavior and guided them in the right path. Velda had such a sense of humor and a way with words. She loved her children and watching crime scene investigation shows on the ID station.

Velda accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior some years ago. Her warm smile, witty personality, and tender heart will be missed by many.

Velda transitioned from this life on Saturday, July 2, 2016, after a long hospital stay at Baptist South, Jacksonville, Florida. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Sha’Coby Woodard, whom she cared for during his illness and she loved him dearly.

Velda leaves to cherish her memories, her children Anthony Reynolds, Andre Reynolds, Johnathan Woodard, Mildreda Woodard, and LaToya Woodard; grandchildren, Brenden Brown, LaThomas Dennis, Jamil Keyes, and Johnna Woodard; mother, Mildred Kitt; sister, Linda Cisero; brother, Emery Reynolds (Antonia); nieces, Fenique Cisero, Emily Reynolds, Tonesha Coleman, and Tauvia Blue; nephews, Darrion Cisero, Nathaniel Criswell, and Jarvois Blue; great nieces, Julianique Cisero, Shania, Flores, Shainique Flores, Shawnta Flores; she leaves a host of other relatives and many amazing friends with a special shout out to her special friend, Tyrone aka “Playa Playa”.

Mother Mildred Kitt went home to be with the Lord on July 6, 2016.


The funeral service for Velda Debrocia Woodard will be held 11AM, SATURDAY, July 9, 2016 at the The Heir Church, 2100 Dunn Ave. The visitation will be 5 - 8PM, Friday, at the mortuary.
