Obituary for Barbara Jean Shields

Barbara Jean  Shields
Barbara was born in Jacksonville, Florida on April 24, 1937 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Johnson & Minnie Alexander. Mrs. Shields was the proud mother of two sons, Jasper Shields and Kenneth Shields. Following in the footsteps of her grandmother, the late Anna Liza Williams of Laura Street Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Shields accepted the Lord into her life and united with the Woodlawn Presbyterian Church. She was educated in the local schools of Duval County, Isaiah Blocker and Stanton Vocational High School.

Barbara departed this life on July 8, 2016, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Roderick (Roger) Alexander and Leon Alexander of whom we love dearly.

Barbara leaves to cherish many memories of love and care with her sons, Jasper Shields (Beliski) and Kenneth Shields; stepson, Patrick Shields; grandchildren, Ceylone Lively (Brent), Lazieria Shields, Jamal Walker, Belisha Shields, Jas Shields, Natasha Shields, Belisky Shields, Beliskey Shields (Beanie), India Buchanan, Jaylen Shields, Shedrick Shields, Fatima Shields, Ronnie Williams, Sherrod Thomas (Joyce); and a host of great-grandchildren; sisters, Pat Stokes, Jackie Collins (Robert), Sheria Alexander, and Lillian Smith; brothers, Maurice Alexander, Dexter Alexander (Velma), and Juan Alexander (Angela); dearest aunt, Carolyn Davis; special friends, Annette Pugh, Sherika Collins and other friends and family members.

The funeral service for Barbara Alexander Shields will be held 10AM, SATURDAY, at the Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, 3026 Woodlawn Road. The visitation will be held 5 - 7:00 PM, Friday, at the mortuary. Interment in Edgewood Cemetery. Please sign the family guest book @ www.tswarden.com. Arrangements in care of Tyrone S.
