Obituary for Gwendolyn Elizabeth Howard-Scott

Gwendolyn Elizabeth  Howard-Scott
Gwendolyn was born on April 8, 1945 in Jacksonville, Florida to William and Birdie Mae Howard. She attended the local schools of Duval County and graduated from Stanton High School.

Gwendolyn, better known as “Granny Granny” worked in the nursing field in her earlier years and later enjoyed the life of a homemaker assisting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gwendolyn was a phenomenal caregiver and the grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her. She was an excellent cook and cleaned excessively. Gwendolyn was very quiet, yet well respected in her community. She was known for her friendly disposition.

On Tuesday, September 20, 2016, God called Gwendolyn home. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Birdie Mae Howard; three brothers, William, Adrian Howard and Walter Smith; and a grandson, Tonee’ Huggins.

Gwendolyn leaves to miss her presence and treasured memories to her children, Alberta (Anthony) Huggins and Albert (Lillie) Howard; brother, Ronald (Linda) Howard; sisters, Remell Shaw, Vanessa (Alfred) Scott, and Sylvia Smith; grandchildren, Katesia (Shawn) Steward, Toneisha Huggins, Rikeya Defreeze, and Alexandria Howard; great-grandchildren, Craig Kelly Jr., Re’Shawn, and Tre’Shawn Steward; sis/cousin, Birdie Mae Jackson, and many more devoted, family members and grieving friends.

The memorial service for Gwendolyn Howard-Scott will be held 1PM, Friday, September 30th, 2016 at the Samuel C. Rogers, Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street. Interment is Private.
