Mr. Raymond Caldwell was born July 31, 1942, in Jacksonville, Florida to the union of Sam and Lizzie Caldwell. He departed this life on October 22, 2016, at University of Florida Health (UF Health). He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Lizzie Caldwell; brothers, Johnny Lee, Curtis, Alcine, Robert, and Arthur Caldwell; sisters, Virginia and Annie Caldwell.

Raymond was educated in the Duval County Public School System and graduated from Matthew Gilbert High School, Class of 1961. Raymond later married Thomasina Caldwell on September 4, 1962. At the time of his passing, he had retired from Amtrak in 2003 and had served in a variety of positions. His automotive skills and craftsmanship made him stand out in the community. Raymond was well known to the general public and never hesitated to assist, show, or mentor friends; while always keeping a smile.

Raymond leaves to cherish in memory, his loving and devoted wife of 54 years Thomasina Caldwell; his devoted children, Judy, Raymond Jr, Rodney, and Justin Caldwell; grandchildren, Tiffany, Christopher, Marquis, Jayla, and Quwan; great-granddaughter, Madison; sisters, Addie Ford and Mozelle Caldwell; brother-in-laws, Richard and Glen Lewis; sister-in-laws, Henrietta (Alan) Bailey, Margaret (Reginald) Givens, and Wanda (Ralph) Williams; devoted nephews, Keenan (Sharlene) Caldwell, Barron (Lisa), Ronald, Curtis Lee, and Curtis Caldwell, Keith (Lorraine), Karl, Cedric, and Gregory Wright, Carlos, Richard III, and Maurice (Nkese) Lewis, and Tavares Walker; nieces, Regina Ford, Tricia Campbell, Bridgett Caldwell, Sheila (Robert) Williams, Raychell Pickett, Karturah Lewis, and Regina Givens; other devoted family members, Grace, Russell (Gwen), and Meta Earl, and Pamela Jones; a number of cousins, great nephews, great nieces, other relatives, and many friends including devoted friends, Leroy Gay, Gerald Mungin, Charles Sutton, Rev. Theotis Passmore, and Jerry Heard (Shorty).

The funeral service for Raymond Caldwell will be held 11:00 am FRIDAY, at the True Way Church of the Risen Christ, 2297 Edison Ave. The visitation will be 5 - 7:00 pm, Thursday at the mortuary.
