Obituary for Gwendolyn Elizabeth Bell

Gwendolyn Elizabeth  Bell
Gwendolyn Elizabeth Lee Bell was born May 14, 1926 to Ralph and Ada Lee in New London, Connecticut. She was baptized at an early age and later recommitted her life at Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Gwendolyn attended Darnell Cookman, Davis Street School, and graduated from Old Stanton High School in 1944. Gwendolyn attended Bethune Cookman College and graduated in 1955 with a degree in Education; where she taught Elementary School for over 30 years. She met and married William Bernard Langley, Sr. and to this union two children, William and Bennye were born. Later, Gwendolyn met and married Cecil Douglas Bell for 38 happy years.

Gwendolyn departed this life on Tuesday, December 27, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Ada Lee; husband, Cecil Douglas Bell; sister, Gertrude Styles.

Gwendolyn leaves to cherish loving memories a son, William B. Langley Jr. (Darlene); daughters, Bennye B. Langley Malone-Cansler (Wade); grandchildren, Carmen N. Malone, Thomas W. Malone, Shawn Fountain, Jerad Sams (Marie), William B. Burney (Tasha), Gwendolyn I. Langley; great-grandchildren, Samaria Fountain, Brianna Fountain, and Isaeal Fountain; godchildren, Bliss L. Thompson and James Brightman Jr.; and a host of other relatives and many loyal friends.

The funeral service for Gwendolyn Elizabeth Bell will be held 11:00 am TUESDAY, at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main St. The visitation will be held 9:30 -11:00 am, Tuesday morning before the service. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries.
