John Ray Ervin, Sr. was born on September 2, 1945 in Savannah, Georgia. the son of Lucille Ervin. He confessed Christ at an early age in Macon, Georgia and attended schools in Macon. John received his education at Eugene Appleton High School. After high school, he joined the Air Force.
John later met and married Juanita Y. Waggoner on November 26, 1965 in Nashville, Tennessee. From this union was born two sons, John R. Ervin, Jr. and Vernon Ervin; and one devoted daughter, Tanya M. Ervin.
John departed this life on August 7, 2018 and was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Ervin; and two sisters, Francis Clark and Theresa White.
John leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Juanita Y. Ervin; sons, John R. Ervin and Vernon Ervin; daughter, Tanya M. Ervin; grandchildren, Shannon Ervin, Monique Oliver, Jamessa Head, Michael Ervin, Tia Poe, Jon’Quita Ervin, Braiden Ervin, Peyton Ervin, and Carrington Ervin; great-grandchildren, Devanta Jones, Jr., Sean Patrick Jones, Aue’Sume Jones, Key’Michael Ervin, JayCeon Ervin, JaZiya Ervin, and Lauren Ervin; sisters, Shirley Mitchell, Yvonne Taylor, and Joann Ervin; brothers, Bennie Ervin, Rufus Taylor, and Willie Taylor; and a host of other relatives and friends.
