Obituary for Harriette Mae Garvin

Harriette Mae Garvin
Harriette Mae Saunders Garvin was born on December 21, 1923 in St. Georges, Georgia to Harry Saunders and Eugenia Muller Saunders. Thirteen children were born from this union of which Harriette is the last survivor. Having no children of her own, she was a mentor to many of her nieces and nephews. Harriette was a product of the local schools of Duval County in Jacksonville, FL, pursing a medical career and private duty service.

Harriette was married to the late LeRoy Garvin who preceded her in death. She was baptized at an early age at the Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church, which still stands on the corner of Forest and Run Streets at the fork of the road. There, she developed her talent as a songstress.

Harriette answered the calling of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 12, 2018. She will be remembered in the hearts of her nephews, Charlie Reynolds and Harry James Reynolds of Chicago, IL; nieces, Ossie D. Statham, her Caregiver Surrogate, and Elouise “Eugenia” Bowlden; a devoted grandniece, Tangela Graham along with many, many other grand-great and great great grandnieces and grandnephews and a host of cousins; goddaughter, Kim Pryor; and dedicated friends to include Susie Eady, Annette Rosemond, Elder Roy and Barbara Franklin and the Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church, and the Greater Beulah Missionary Baptist Church and her “Beulah Boys”.
Go On “Harry Mae” with that beautiful smile and beat that tambourine.
