Allen Ponder, Jr. was born on February 19, 1949 in Monticello, Florida to Allen and Henrietta Ponder. He attended the local schools in Duval County graduating from Eugene J. Butler High School. Allen was in the United States Marine Corps. He had one son.

Allen departed this life on Monday, January 2, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Ponder and Henrietta Ponder; son, Allen Ponder, III.

Allen leaves to cherish his memory: brothers, John Lee, Curtis Lee, Robert Lee Ponder, Ulysses Ponder, Norman Lee Ponder, and Nichols Smith; a host of aunts and cousins in Clermont, Florida; Orlando, Florida; Palatka; and East Palatka, Florida.

The funeral service for Allen Ponder Jr. will be held 1:30 pm Friday, January 6th, 2017 at the Samuel C. Rogers, Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street.
